I have been a musician for over 30 years. I began with forced piano lessons at age 6. At age 12, I dropped
piano in favor of middle school band (big mistake...should have done both!). In high school, I took an interest in the
bass guitar. I taught myself to play it and became somewhat proficient with it. Since then, I have developed an
insatiable curiosity for learning other instruments such as drums, accordian, and concertina. My bass playing experience
needed some more "something", so I learned double bass. After I learned to play all these things, I decided I was tired
of paying to have them repaired (poorly more often than not) so I learned to work on them. I have less experience
than many so-called profesional repair technicians, but I believe I do as good or better quality work than many of them.
My Company
As stated earlier, I was dissatisfied with much of the repair work I received. This made me want to learn how to
do this stuff myself. I started my repair service with the premise that I would offer high quality repairs
at a reasonable price in a reasonable time. I will tell you up front if I believe a repair is beyond my abilities and
refer you to someone I trust implicitly to handle the repair (this would be Billy Gee of Moravian Falls, NC...a great luthier
and damned nice fellow). I will also tell you (nicely of course) if an instrument is not worth repairing. I will
also stand behind my work 100%.
